John Bangs

I studied Fine Art at Reading University under the tuition of Claude Rogers and Terry Frost between 1967 and 1971. After gaining my degree I completed a teaching course at Goldsmiths College and taught Art and Literacy in Tower Hamlets between 1972-1990. I thenpursued a trade union career with the NUT as Head of Education and then went on to become a Special Adviser with Education International.

My art has always been my hinterland whatever else I’ve been doing. I joined Greenwich Open Studios (GOS) in 1990 and have exhibited with GOS ever since. I’m the Convenor for Greenwich Open Studios.

My website includes a range of pictures and my contact details. http://www.johnbangs.com

I’m essentially a pastel painter. My influences are many as you can see from site. I’ve included a number of my latest pictures for the GOS site as well as those that you can see on my site. My work is for sale and I certainly try to make it affordable. If you email me via johnbangs@yahoo.com I can give you more information about my work. I’m taking part in this year’s Greenwich Open Studios which will be on the 14-15 th and 21-22 nd September. I also have a solo show at the White Box Gallery in Blackheath, South London from the 30th November to the 15 the December 2024. Watch this space for more details.
