Alice Gur-Arie

Self taught, I create fine art images by hand painting, digitally, my photographs from around the world. Inspired by the natural world, landscapes, seascapes and wildlife dominate my portfolio, ranging from bold, saturated abstracts to soft, textured tones. In my home studio in Greenwich I also make maritime themed wall hangings which combine iron hardware, rope, shells and stones, all reclaimed from rivers and seas. My first collection of branch tapestries will be completed by the Spring.

I have published two companion books which interpret the ancient Chinese world view into fine art images, short stories and poems: Twelve: Shengiao Zodiac Creatures in Art and Words, and Five: Wuxing Elements in Art and Words.

My work has been auctioned at Christie's and exhibited at the Embassy of Iceland. I’ve received industry recognition for photography and fine art images, and a number of book covers in the US feature my work.

I hold degrees In English literature, Education and Business from York University in Toronto, Canada.
