I started working with clay in the 1960’s and continued until now. About twenty years ago I was introduced to Raku firing and have concentrated on this wonderful method of firing my pots ever since.
My interest in early Chinese and Japanese ceramics has been an inspiration and an influence on my work.
With Raku firing the serendipity of glaze reaction to the rapid heating and reduction continues to be a delight. The surfaces impossible to repeat.
All my work is thrown, I use various clay bodies. My shapes tend to be simple, I often include a top or lid, feet, mixed media and some are wired permanently .
I work in my studio with a very old wheel and electric kiln, my Raku kiln is in my garden.
